Kenya plans zero PAYE on monthly income up to KSh 32,333; 362,846 more formal workers to be exempt

Kenya's Treasury plans to set PAYE at zero on monthly income up to KSh 32,333 and scrap the KSh 2,400 monthly personal relief, which would exempt 362,846 more formal-sector workers, Treasury Cabinet Secretary John Mbadi said on 22 October, Business Daily reported.

Kenya's Ruto proposes no PAYE for earners up to KSh 32,333 a month and removal of 25% phone import duty

President William Ruto proposed on 20 October that Kenyans earning KSh 32,333 or less a month pay no PAYE, that land deals worth KSh 1 million or less be exempt from stamp duty and that the 25 per cent import duty on mobile phones be removed, Citizen Digital reported.

Kenya plans to exempt earners of KSh 32,800 or less from PAYE; Bill due in Parliament in November

Treasury Cabinet Secretary John Mbadi said on 16 October that a Bill exempting employees earning KSh 32,800 or less from PAYE will go to Parliament in November, The Star reported on 18 October 2026.
