Kenya to block imports without local marine cargo insurance from 1 November, KRA says

Imported cargo without a policy from an insurer licensed by the Insurance Regulatory Authority (IRA) will be blocked from customs clearance from 1 November, the Kenya Revenue Authority said in a notice dated 22 October 2026.

KRA: Kenya imports need digital marine cargo insurance certificate from 1 November

The Kenya Revenue Authority will enforce mandatory digital marine cargo insurance on all imports from 1 November 2026, with non-compliant consignments blocked from clearance, it said on 22 October.
