Kenyan economy grew 5.1% in the second quarter of 2026, up from 4.9% a year earlier

Kenya's economy grew 5.1% year-on-year in the second quarter of 2026, with transport and storage up 4.4% and accommodation and food services up 7.4%, Reuters and Capital FM reported on 16 October 2026.

Kenya overtakes Ethiopia as East Africa's largest economy, IMF data show

Kenya's 2025 GDP was US$135.92 billion against Ethiopia's US$126.35 billion in IMF data, after the birr's devaluation shrank Ethiopia's dollar GDP by about 40 per cent, Business Daily reported on 15 October 2026.
