China Exim Bank holds Belt and Road forum in Nairobi; Kenya Railways expects first phase of SGR extension to Kisumu within two years

The Export-Import Bank of China held a Belt and Road financing forum in Nairobi on 21 October, the Financial Street Forum's first satellite session in Africa, the Chinese Embassy said. Kenya Railways' managing director, Philip Mainga, said the first phase of the SGR extension to Kisumu is expected to be completed within two years, China Daily reported on 22 October.

China Exim Bank holds Belt and Road forum in Nairobi, Financial Street Forum's first venue in Africa

The Export-Import Bank of China held a Belt and Road forum in Nairobi and Beijing on 21 October, the first time the Financial Street Forum Annual Conference has had a venue in Africa, the Chinese Embassy in Kenya said.

Kenya revives China-financed SGR extension to Malaba, converts railway debt to yuan

Kenya restarted its stalled Nairobi–Malaba railway with Chinese contractors and separately swapped $3.5 billion of dollar SGR debt into yuan, saving an estimated $215 million a year.
